Smolevichi - city, the centre of Smolevichsky area of Minsk region with the population of 14,2 thousand people Smolevichsky area settles down in the centre of Minsk region and occupies the territory of 1,4 thousand sq.km. Borders with Minsk, Logojsky, Borisovsky and Chervensky areas of Minsk region. General information about Smolevichi: For the first time it is mentioned about 1448 as possession of Dargievich. Since 1508 a place in Minsk district of Grand duchy Lithuanian, possession of princes Ostrozhsky, then Radzivilly, Vitgensteiny, Gogenloe. The place has strongly suffered during the war of Russia with Rech Pospolitaya and Northern war. Since 1793 was in structure of the Russian empire, since 1795 - the centre of volost of Borisovsky district. In the XIX-th century beginning here was a palace which has burnt down in 1819. In 1871 near Smolevichi the railway station Vitgenshtejnovskaya was constructed. Since 1924 Smolevichi - the area centre. During the Great Patriotic War fascist aggressors have destroyed here 2 thousand inhabitants, created a ghetto where have shot about 3 thousand persons. Transport communications in Smolevichi: The city is in 35 km to the east from Minsk; in the city there is a railway station on the line Minsk-Orsha.
