Cherven - city, the centre of Chervensky area of Minsk region with the population of 10,1 thousand people Chervensky area settles down in a southeast part of Minsk region and occupies the territory of 1,6 thousand sq.km. Borders with Borisovsky, Berezinsky, Minsk, Puhovichsky and Smolevichsky areas of Minsk region and Osipovichsky area of Mogilev region. General information about Cherven: Is known as Igumen since 1387 as a part of Minsk district of Grand duchy Lithuanian. Since the first half of XV century the place belonged to Kezhgajly, since 1447 - to the bishop. During the war between Russia and Rech Pospolitaya of 1654-67 and in Northern war of 1700-21 has been plundered and strongly destroyed. Since 1793 was in structure of the Russian empire. In 1976 received the arms. During the revolt of 1863-64 the insurgent group led by B.Sventarzhetsky operated here. In 1923 the city was renamed in Cherven (from the Belarus name of month of June). Since 1924 - the area centre. Transport communications in Cherven: The city is on the river Chervenka (Igumenka) in 62 km to the southeast from Minsk, in 30 km from the railway station Puhovichi on the line Minsk-Osipovichi, nearthe highway Minsk-Mogilev.
